Title: Producing Dynamic Content That Matters to your Target Market
Stephanie Nelson began her amazing story by stating that your website will not be successful unless you are passionate and believe in the content that is represented on the page. Stephanie was able to save a lot of money by budgeting on grocery shopping through her past experiences of budgeting. Because of her prior experience, Stephanie wanted to help others that were in similar situation save on everyday shopping at the grocery shopping. She started a website because it was simply a vehicle to push out her message out to millions of people instead of doing seminar after seminar.
Simplifying a website and catering it to all people including 3rd graders can really set apart your site from others. Users can get turned off from content that is not easily accessed and easy to use. Stephanie Nelson made it possible to save over $100 a week with 15 minutes of budgeting. Before the online database and simple website design, people would spend hours cutting coupons off the Sunday newspaper to achieve this same discount.
If you have a great idea and it’s still incubating, make sure not to mention it to anyone because you tend to spend time defending it more than developing it. Stephanie Nelson has achieved tremendous success by following her passion and her dream. Any affiliate marketer can take this same concept and apply it to their own settings. Make sure to check out Stephanie Nelson’s website.
This year’s Performance Marketing Expo kicked off with some opening remarks from conference producer Stacy Levine followed by an introduction of Evan Weber, CEO of Experience Advertising. Evan mentioned some great people in attendance at the event and then the morning’s keynote Michael Tchong took the podium.
Michael Tchong, trends spotter, begins his presentation by stating how digital trends are changing rapidly and so we have to keep up with the times in order to stay ahead. Singer Eryka Badu even tweeted while giving birth!
Americans are watching videos 32 billion times a month. Digital trends like “screensucking” and “Logonorrohea” are slowly taking over. Digital humor and jokes have become increasingly popular. By 2013 more than half of internet access will be through mobile, so this will change how websites are designed and developed for affiliates.
There are always people who deny and decline mobile trends but it is part of our culture and society. Smartphones are changing the way we conduct business and communicate on a daily basis. Even babies are sleeping less because of digital age trends. Mattel calls the trend “KAGOY” (Kids Are Growing Old Younger).
Multitasking at all times have become increasingly important as consumers strive to save time. “Even when we are present we are absent.”
Consumers are absolutely obsessed with tracking phenomenon whether it comes to packages from UPS, FedEx, or even pizzas from Dominos! Do not follow the media, Facebook will be replaced like Friendster, instead follow social engagement. The transparency of facebook and twitter has forced marketers to be better at customer service than ever before.
Providing attendees, speakers, sponsors the best experience possible is what it’s all about. Here are some quick gold nuggets of information that have been shared at the Performance (Affiliate) Marketing Expo on Day 1:

Professionals are too often concerned with what the next big fad in the economy will be instead of focusing their time of staying on top of business trends. This post on TroyMedia discusses how some futurists and trend-spotters like PME keynote Michael Tchong have observed the world and workplace in order to come up with simple answers to complex questions. Simplicity is key in trend spotting.

John Chow is a well-known writer that blogs about Internet Marketing on his site JohnChow.com. He specializes in site monetization, search engine optimization, and generating an income with blogs. One of his greatest feats in the industry was to rank number one for the keyword “make money online” using text links and reciprocal linking (although Google later penalized him by delisting his site).
John also runs the site TTZMedia.com. The site helps webmasters who run technology sites monetize their sites by adding a code to display various products. The code taps into a database that compares prices between various stores. For example: A Canon digital camera will be displayed along with merchants that sell it and a comparison of prices.

This post on mediapost.com highlights how Andrew Koven, President of eCommerce & Customer Experience at Steve Madden & PME speaker, has not been impressed with location-based services. Steve Madden has created partnerships with both Foursquare and Loopt and the campaign has not been too compelling to date, making it want to turn away from further partnerships with other location-based services like shopkick.
So is location-based services really not for retailers? What are some retailers out there that have had success implementing a location-based strategy?
Andrew Koven will be presenting How Consumers Really Use Online Social Media at Performance Marketing Expo next week. Make sure not to miss his session!
Make sure to update your events on facebook and LinkedIn and RSVP “yes” if you are attending Performance Marketing Expo later this month. We look forward to seeing you there!
